Food Assistance During COVID-19 Social Distancing

Here is a shortlist of the food assistance response from local organizations.

Dayton Public Schools

With schools closing for multiple weeks, many of our Dayton residents raised the question “What about the students who rely on the two meals at school for their daily meals?”

The Dayton Public Schools system is keeping certain schools open (9am-12pm) starting on Mar 16th, for food pickup. For those without transportation, they have a food delivery request form.

The Food Bank

Requesting those without transportation to make an appointment to enter the building to minimize potential spread of coronavirus.

Those with transportation can continue to visit the drive-thru food panty M + F 1-3pm.

A Facebook group connecting peer-to-peer aid, and collating business and community resource response to the consequences of social distancing.

Mutual Aid Dayton/MV is an online facebook group where individuals are collating and posting local resources as well as offering aid and requesting aid.

Dayton Power & Light suspending disconnection at least 30 days, or further notice.

Carillon Park is open and waiving entrance fees.

Hall Hunger Initiative has collated a list of Coping with COVID-19, including School Mean Distribution information.

The South Park neighborhood has created 8 Tips for Handing COVID-19 Close-downs, including calls for volunteers.
